This is a world in which good things and bad can and do happen. One is not always prepared. No - we are never really prepared when evil and disaster ascend upon us, as from the Abyss.
Sometimes we seem to have our lives all together, just the way we like them, just the way we planned and worked hard to achieve. Some folk never manage to pull that off, but some of us do.
