Angel
There are some things, I like to think, that Mr. Brown does not know about angels. Whether he knows about demons, who can say? Perhaps he has writing demons. Perhaps angels need not apply.
Frankly I prefer John Donne -
At the round earth's imagin'd corners, blow
Your trumpets, angels, and arise, arise
From death, you numberless infinities
Of souls, and to your scatter'd bodies go.
Faith is born of truth, and some of what I read in Mr. Brown's books undermine rather than stir belief. Lots of historic data but put together in a way, though scintillating and captivating, has no real veracity. There's more to life - and death, than selling books to gullible people.
Again Donne speaks more wisely:
. . . here on this lowly ground
Teach me how to repent; for that's as good
As if Thou hadst seal'd my pardon with Thy blood.
- John Donne (1572-1631) Holy Sonnets
