The Blue Boat
This picture of a moored small blue boat was shot in the harbour of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, Scotland, at medium tide. I was on a day-trip with friends from Iona, where we had been staying.
Tober derives from the Irish for 'well.' Mory links to Mary the mother of Jesus. There must have been a holy well here first, perhaps one dedicated to an ancient Celtic godess.
'The Well of Mary' (tober-mory) is not on the minds of most tourists today as they come to see the glorious vistas and walk along along roads by the sea, lined with brightly coloured shops and houses.
