Life that Counts

So, there is this little line or squiggle between the birth and death dates on many tombstones. Life is what happens along the squiggle. All lives count and some seem to touch a great many others also. This 1612 AD tomb reminds us of that. It is in the surrounding burial grounds of Glasgow Cathedral (St. Mungo's), Scotland.

There are many ways in which we help others along the pathways of life, whether or not we are doctors or other medical practitioners. He cured many while he lived, says the inscription. May the stone's sentiments and the respectful memories of this man be also true of us -  along with the grace to live in mirth and die in peace.
