My ancestor James Green was the son of Esther Green and George Moon, all of West Bransdale, Kirkbymoorside Parish, North Riding of Yorkshire, England. James was born at Moor House, Rudland Rigg in Yorkshire's North Riding, on the 25th of October, 1857. He died in Carlisle, Ontario  28 Decemeber 1936.

Esther Green, his mother, was born on the 20th of August 1835 in West Farndale, Kirkbymoorisde Parish, NRY. She died in Guelph, Ontario on the 1st of January, 1917. She was then Mrs. Ralph Richardson.

James Green's natural birth-father, George Moon was born about 1822 in Kirkdale, North Riding of Yorkshire and died in Glaisdale, NR on the 7th of October, 1876. He had previously resided at Cowl House, West Bransdale, NRY, where Esther Green worked, as his servant, and through whom was born their son, James Green.

To put James Green in family context, relative to myself . . . James was the father of Annie Alice Green (born 1890), my father's mother. James married Elizabeth Ann Wilson, daughter of Newark Wilson and Hannah (nee Wood). James and Elizabeth and their family came to Canada (on the SS Canada) in 1906, settling first in Winnipeg, MB, and then in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Annie Alice Green married Gordon Barber of Guelph Towship, Wellington County, Ontario.
