Growing Fruit - Many Ways

Category:

There is a new way of creating orchards and producing good fruit. The old orchards had trees that were taller, difficult to harvest. So, newer, dwarf varieties were tried. Now, the branches of the trees are cut away and pruned, having been planted in laser-straight rows. Is this 'natural' and best. Is it a little like having chickens in cages and pigs in pens, not free range and never seeing directly the light of day.

Wires and poles provide support for them, these trees, much as one would find in a vineyard. Apparently the yield is very rich and plentiful. Wonderfully fruitful, but something seems to me wrong about this . . .
