Dr. Maurice Boyd used to tell of a woman who was deaf but then learned also from her doctor that very soon she would be blind as well. But she answered, said Dr. Boyd, with enormous courage: “Not, to worry; for if the world be hid to me without, I’ll sail the hidden seas within.”

Dr. Boyd asked the question and I ask it of myself and of you: ‘What about our inner seas – what are they like?’ There are some whose inner seas are like a muddy duck pond: shallow, dank, stagnant. There are others whose inner seas are like the oceans of life: vast and deep, and teeming with life.
