A Natural Response

The God Who is There

Category:

Writer Philip Yancey, a favorite author, is not afraid to talk about the fact that even sincere Christians can have serious doubts about the whole matter, viz - Is there really a God? How can anyone know, for sure? What difference does it make either way?

He writes a blog and was interviewed on the subject of ‘faith and doubt’ which was translated into a 2009 article. I resonated with so much in that piece and the adjoining video takes up but one aspect of the case for God. Yancey writes, "I sense in beauty and in nature marks of a genius creator for which the natural response is worship."

As if God needed an argument for God’s being, being there, being anywhere.

It may very well be true - we may not believe in God, but God believes in us. Or, as the great Russian author, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, put it  - “My hosannah is born in the crucible of my doubts.”
