In the Beginning

The Genesis of All Things

Category:

A video portrayal of Genesis 1:1-4 - the Creation.

Interesting how one must immediately figure out how to portray a world without light and darkness, before the 'great lights' of sun and moon are created. In my view this is clearly a poem, with depiction not intended to describe literally and scientifically how the cosmos came into being. But there is clear attestation that God was the Creator, which truth by faith I heartily affirm.

I'm drawn to the analysis of John H. Walton, professor of Old Testament at Wheaton College who sees the Genesis account as a view of creation that resonates with ancient Near Eastern mindsets, much like a temple dedication ceremony, and not a strictly material account of cosmological origins.
