One Walks With Us

Jesus and the Pilgrim Way

Category:

Pilgrims walk together, or sometimes alone, sometimes pressed forward even pushed by those who are eager to get ahead. We all start on the road in the same way. We are birthed and then, whether we know or not, we begin stumbling heavenward. Sometimes we are side-trackd, bush-wacked by pride, power and influence or by a simple search for meaning. We want to make a big impression, to leave our mark in that short span - the eye-wink, the heart-beat that is our life.

Can we burst through life and somehow find eternity, or is it that Eternity must find us? Dazzled, too intense are we, betimes. Like salmon returning to spawn we must turn and swim upstream. The wide road must become narrow. We have to turn and press forward the other way, which of course takes us back (to being a little child again) and behind - and away from the rest. It's the way, the road, that Jesus took, takes still. And we, if we would find Him and walk with Him, or if we would recognize the One who draws near us on our own Emmaus Way and eat and drink with us at sundown, must turn and walk this way. It's the the truth that He's the Truth. Oh, to recognize His voice, His Words, His opening of God's Word and World and Way; a holy heartburn can but follow. The One who is in time and beyond time draws near us daily and journeys with us.

The Source, the Life, Way, Truth - our Life draws near; it's a given as is He. He came as a tiny one like me and you. He had, yes has a Body, like you, like me. And He is already 'there' (in Kingdom come- and coming), just as He has been and is now already 'here' in this present evil world. By prayer we simply converse (but it's profound we can do this). His Words ring true, still, His invitation ever new: 'Ask anything - in my Name (like, it's on His account), and it will be done. . .  You Dads; you know how to give good things to your kids, right? How much more will my Heavenly Father give to you, kids, good things if you ask. So Ask: ask in my name!"

I wish I had the faith, guts and gumption to do that more.
