God Cares and God Guides

Category:

The hymn writer William Cowper allowed that ‘God moves in a mysterous way, His wonders to perform.’ The doctrine of providence speaks of 'divinely ordained events and outcomes.’

In other words, God is not surprised by what happens, what caused it to happen, or what follows from all the happenings of life. In fact, Christians believe, He is inherently and intrinsically involved in every aspect of life on planet earth, and throughout the expanding, vast galaxies.

But some days (and for some folk, most days), it’s difficult to believe that there’s a plan and purpose in all of creation, and in the minute moments and details of each precious life. It’s hard to trust.

Scripture calls us to do that - to trust God and to obey His directives. Because all things fit within His purposes, in what He directs, in what He allows.

'Don’t sweat the small stuff,' we’re told. But is anything really small, unimportant? And when it comes to ‘the big stuff’ - however defined, then what can we do but stand in awe, in wonder and, hopefully, in faith?

For we all count. And God does care. Least that’s my ‘take’ on it, which I think aligns with Scripture.
