Oh does it?! - and do they?! . . . Hmmm.

I think that every person – their presence, their uniqueness, their face and body, their giftedness, the contribution of their life – says something about God, the God who created each one of us.

In many cold climes Advent days are short and cold.

They say one can never really go home again - that to go home is to find that all has changed, that everything has become very different from how you remember it.

I've been thinking about God and how God can be known in the world, in His creation, in how God orders and sustains the universe.

John 1:11 - "He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him."

We are always thrilled to hear of the birth of the baby. Conflicting emotions of joy and sorrow well up within.

God told Job that at the creation of the world "the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy."

Our planet is but a small spec in a galaxy which is itself part of billions of stars and planets. And yes, from a distance it seems so beautiful, so ordered, peaceful and calm.

Is there a more poignant and powerful carol than: ‘Joy to the World’ ? Well actually, I love them all, all the carols.

I like the fact that Christians 'keep score' and 'tell time' in another way besides the usual bottom line(s) of life and the mere chronology of the passing hours and days.

So why a rooster, the first Sunday of Advent?!

Advent is a Season of waiting. Christians begin a new wait (not a wake, though we should come awake) each year, as the Christian Calendar commences it's own season passings.

I survive another November, my least favourite month of the year, and my spirit skips and my heart begins to lean, as in childhood years, towards the coming of Christmas.

The wonder and curiosity of a child. — May we never lose it.

There’s so much ‘out there’ to see, to examine and explore, at which to marvel -

and give thanks.

So, perhaps we're angry with such a question: - 'What if there's a God and God expects something of you and me?'

There's lots that's wrong with the world, as well as - well, the opposite, right?

Someone has said - ‘The trouble with being an atheist is that there’s No-One to Thank!’

The Christian heresies spring from the fact that man does not take seriously the known ground of divine immanence in Jesus Christ, so that from its revelation, instead of apprehending Jesus Christ

Some musing about the 'big mess' that we sometimes find our world, and our own lives, to be in.

The nature of God is Being.

Might this mean that some who think they are doing theology, aren't? - not really doing it unless it's true Scripture-mining that is led and enabled by God's Spirit.

God’s Presence and Power is very near and He is setting to right people, places and things.

The Church is not the Kingdom of God but its concerns are just as wide as the Kingdom - i.e. its being comprised of ambassadors and agents of God in the restortion of all Creation.

The world seems to be in constant pain, writhing, suffering, longing for release.

It might be our memories of that awful day in 2001 - 9/11.

Okay, so it's been a real hot - too hot Summer.

Sometimes it's good just to take a few moments, to pause and consider again the goodness of God in the beauty of creation around us.

I love the amazing wonders of creation. The mind boggles and the heart is expanded. With the Psalmist we exclaim, 'Such knowledge is all too wonderful to me!' Psalm 139:6

Global warming exists - but there are many myths about why, who caused it and what we could possibly do about it.

This movie might help to give some perspetive.

In his book Why We Must Ignore Jesus, John Alexander writes that "Christians spend a lot of time and energy explaining why Jesus couldn't possibly have meant what He said.

To be betrayed, and to feel left behind, lost, forgotten and alone. It's the experience that most of us experience at one time or another.

Sir Isaac Newton was one of the greatest geniuses of all time with his work in mathematics, physics and astronomy laying the foundations of much of modern science.
