God’s Heaven’s Near

Emmaus Perspectives

Category:

God’s Heaven’s near, a Throne holds sway
Close to creation’s sphere,
And there are places thin, that cry
This is God's world, His Presence near.

And there’s a Meal that speaks of Love,
Bids anxious sinners come
Though wrapped in mystery, glorious Feast,
The Bread and Wine still makes us one.

When days are long and hope is gone,
A Stranger draws ‘long side,
And questions why we’re so forlorn
And tells us He will still abide.

The work He finished – shared, released
To burn our hearts with Scripture’s light,
At evening - welcome! gracious feast,
Shared bread and breaking new insight.

Stirred then to new reality,
We hasten through the night,
With joy and passion, winged feet,
Back ‘long the way had brought retreat.

Again with friends we join in faith
For stories we must tell;
The One who entered Kingdom-come
Came first to us, on earth to dwell.
